Recap of the VyRT test on August 26
This time it was completely different. More people watching and it lasted about 5 hours. There was no sound 90% of the time and when we did hear something, it was usually very very low and barely audible. We could see some people passing by at different times. Jared picked up the camera at one point and made a silly face (see this gif). One of the rare times we had sound, he started singing to himself. I don’t know if he was aware we could hear him or if he did it on purpose. Sound goes off again and we don’t hear anything for the next hour or two. After a while they point the camera at an inflatable shark by the pool and if you turned up the volume you could hear voices, Jared’s, Tomo’s and some other dude’s, talking about VyRT and laughing about random things. Then Jared points the camera at a kid (Chloe’s younger brother Cheyenn. Chloe is a friend of Jared). Back to staring at the palm tree. After a while we are taken to the studio where we see Jared with a guitar. He starts playing ‘Save Me’. The sound is great, not low at all. After this we go back to the palm tree. Sound is extremely low again, but some people could still hear something, even if with difficulty. This is when Jared plays four Self-Titled songs:
- Capricorn
- Echelon
- Buddha For Mary
Jared and Tomo laugh and spend about 2 minutes playing random stuff on the guitar.
- Edge of the Earth (instrumental, just about 1 minute)
Jared says something about Disneyland and Tomo laughs.
- Bad Romance (just the start)
- New song. “Up in the air…” “This is the end, I feel” “Up in the air (…) I can remember your surrender (…) like a knife. Is this the end..” something
like that. It’s a very lovely song and the style reminded me a lot of U2’s “Where The Streets Have No Name”.
We had been looking at the palm tree the whole time and now it’s getting very dark. Back in the studio and Tomo starts playing the piano and it sounds wonderful. This is the last time we see any
of the guys. A couple minutes later when it’s so dark the palm tree is not visible anymore, the stream goes offline.
