She lent her star power to the Democratic National Convention with a rousing speech in support of President Barack Obama.
But behind the scenes, it appeared Scarlett Johansson was enjoying the company of ex-boyfriend Jared Leto.
The actress, who is understood to be still dating art director Nate Naylor, was seen cosying up to the actor/musician at the political event.
I want to hold your hand: Scarlett Johansson got some moral support from ex-boyfriend Jared Leto at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday evening
A shoulder to lean on: The actress appeared to be more than comfortable leaning on the actor as they watched President Obama accept his party's nomination
Tucked away in a booth with stars including Elizabeth Banks and Jon Hamm, the pair watched as President Obama accepted the party's presidential nomination ahead of the November elections.
But the pair, believed to have dated in 2004, seemed to have only have eyes for each other.
Pictures of the actors show them seemingly holding hands and smiling at one another while enjoying conversation.
Turning around for a brief moment in her chair, Scarlett is seen putting a hand on Jared's arm, while he puts his hand on her ankle.
Can't take his hands off: Even as Scarlett turned around, Jared kept his hand firmly planted on her ankle
Is the feeling mutual? Scarlett didn't seem to mind, returning the gesture by placing her hand on his wrist. Mad Men's Jon Hamm was also in attendance (left)
Close contact: Scarlett appeared to reach for Jared's hand
The actress' representative has denied the pair are romantically involved, however.
Marcel Pariseau told MailOnline: 'They are just friends and watching the DNC where Scarlett spoke. She wasn't even aware that he was going to be there.'
Still, the images are bound to be unsettling for the actress' boyfriend Nate Naylor.
The Avengers star was first linked to the art director in February after they were spotted on a date in New York.
They were last seen together enjoying a picnic in Paris on September 3 - three days before the DNC.

Scarlett was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds; but the couple announced they had separated 15 months later in December 2010 and finalised their divorce in July 2011, with The Green Lantern hunk moving on to his co-star Blake Lively.
While seeing Jared again at last night's convention may have proved distracting, the actress delivered her speech with laser focus when she took the stage in Washington, D.C., where fellow stars Kerry Washington and Eva Longoria also spoke in support of President Obama.
Scarlett received a rousing reception, having focused on boosting enthusiasm among young people to make their voices heard by casting ballots to re-elect the incumbent in November.
Swapping stories: The former couple seemed to enjoy their conversation
Sharing laughs: There was no sign of awkwardness or tension
So what's new? Jared pulled a face while he told a story to the star
She told the convention audience that less than half of all eligible voters between 18 and 24 voted in the presidential election four years ago, and urged greater participation in the political process, asking: 'Why are we only speaking with half our voice?'
The 27-year-old said that major issues are at stake for her generation, including access to health care, affordable college tuition and the guarantee of equal pay.
In a direct message to those who are not engaged with politics, she said: 'Vote, so your voice is heard.'
Taking the floor: Scarlett also seemed to open up - perhaps about her political views
Lending an ear: Presumably Jared would have agreed, as the pair both showed their support for President Obama
What do you think? Jared seemed to want the star's opinion
Look up! Jared and Scarlett took in the sights from the political stage show
Giving thanks: Scarlett smiled as she raised a sign for television audiences
She also talked about her childhood, telling the crowd that her 'lower middle income' family relied on the government for essential services such as education, transport and healthcare.
The actress concluded with a story about helping her mother vote, saying she would 'take me into the polling booth, and tell me which buttons to press and when to pull the lever'.
She added: 'I remember the excitement I felt in that secret box, and feeling like my mom's vote wasn't just about the candidate, it was about our family - and all the families just like ours.'
Out and about: Scarlett was seen with her boyfriend Nate Naylor in Paris on August 19. The pair were seen together as late as September 3 - three days before the DNC
Fans of the actress will be happy to learn she's soon set to return to the big screen with the forthcoming release of her next two projects.
Scarlett has just wrapped on Hitchcock, playing the role of Janet Leigh - the actress famed for her role in that shower scene from Psycho; and completed work on Don Jon's Addiction, about the journey of a contemporary, porn-addicted Don Juan-type as he attempts to become less selfish.
Both are set for release next year.
Scarlett has also completed Under The Skin, a sci-fi tale about an alien in human form who is on a journey through Scotland, set to hit cinemas in late 2012.
Taking the stage: Scarlett urged the youth to make their voices heard, and reminisced about helping her mother to vote when she was a child as she pledged her support to Mr Obama
Impassioned: The actress made an appeal to those who are not enthusiastic about voting
